head in the clouds
Thursday morning I took a new exercise class at my local gym in Sydney, Australia. This gym is right on south Cronulla beach and has a view over the Pacific Ocean from its rooftop - meaning it’s perfect for sunrise views (see for yourself below). The candy floss sky I was treated to as daybreak arrived inspired the theme for this fortnight’s edition of ‘The Sunrise Chaser’ - rooftops. It could be a bar, a terrace or a look out atop a skyscraper, I’ve searched high and low to find you some top spots to wack on your bucket list.
Some of these are free to visit, some only if you’re stay at the hotel and others are paid for, but all will give you an uplifting view of the scenery around them. So hop in the lift and let’s ride up to the top floor.
predicting tip
Here is where I’ll share an additional or new tip to help with your sunrise and sunset chasing.

sky of the fortnight
Here is the view from the aforementioned gym. In Sydney’s south, Cronulla Beach’s Elite PT gym is at the Cronulla Pavilion Sports Complex building with rooftop gym classes taking place as the sun rises. I caught the below scene of the morning people getting ready for their day ahead - and all before 7am - as the beach stretches out for miles in the background.
where to visit?
The European summer is not far away and many of you will be heading to Paris, France so here is a list of seven rooftop bars to watch the sunset over the city of love thanks to the team at HiP Paris. With minimal amount of sky scrapers in the city centre, the Eiffel Tower rises above all around it.
out the window
Whenever I travel somewhere I am often looking for places to stay that have a unique or mind-blowing view.
This sensational rooftop view of the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy is from the Duomo Grand Hotel. You’ll get sweeping views of the historic city plus sightings of the Duomo as the sun descends into the horizon.

bucket list
Sunrise and sunset spots from around the world I’m desperate to visit. Drop me an email (reply to this) to share your favourites for the chance to be featured. This is also a great way for me to highlight other wonderful creators you may want to follow.
sunrise spot
Sunrise rooftops are a bit rarer to come across as most cater to sunsets and nighttime viewing, however I can highly recommend staying at one of the magical hotels in Cappadocia, Türkiye. As the sun rises so do hundreds of exquisite hot air balloons, @caoilfhionnrose captured this magnificent sight from the Koza Cave Hotel in Göreme.
sunset spot
With a wealth of options for sunset, I went for one in the capital of Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur. This magnificent scene with a view of the city is at Vertigo on Level 59 of Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur. One for the books!
blame it on the moon
We had a magical moonrise the night before the full moon last week here in Sydney (see image below). April’s full moon will be on 13th of the month, plus, as always, the days around it. Remember to visit this website to confirm when the moon will be full wherever you located.
Where is your favourite rooftop view? If you’re on Instagram drop me a DM and tell me all about it - I love to hear from you.
Until next time, happy high above sky chasing.
